DEWA-approved solar panels and inverters: how to check
What DEWA's eligible equipment list means for Shams Dubai, how to check the panels and inverters in your quote, and what approval does not cover.
For a Shams Dubai connection, two things need DEWA's acceptance: the contractor who designs and installs your system, and the equipment they use.
DEWA's eligible equipment list
DEWA publishes a list of equipment that meets the eligibility requirements of its Distributed Renewable Resources Generation program, Shams Dubai. Eligibility is based on type-test certification. The list covers hundreds of solar panel models from many manufacturers, and inverter makers have also announced their products being added.
- The list is not exhaustive. It reflects manufacturer submissions DEWA has reviewed.
- Other equipment can still be accepted during the design stage if the installer provides proof of compliance.
- DEWA states that the list is not an endorsement or warranty, so "approved" does not mean "best". It means the equipment meets DEWA's grid requirements.
How to check your quote
- Ask the installer for the exact panel and inverter model numbers, not just the brand.
- Check them against DEWA's current eligible equipment list, or ask the installer to show where they appear.
- Ask for the datasheets and certificates, and the product and performance warranties in writing.
- Confirm the installer is a DEWA-enrolled solar PV contractor. See our list of DEWA-approved solar companies.
