How to choose a solar installer in the UAE: a checklist

Ten questions to ask before you sign with a solar installer in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.

Get at least three quotes and ask every installer the same questions, so you can compare like with like.

Before you sign

  1. Are you on DEWA's list of enrolled solar PV contractors, and in which category?
  2. Can you show three recent projects similar to mine, ideally villas in my area?
  3. What is the price per kWp? Compare it with the typical AED 3,500 to 6,000 range.
  4. Which panel and inverter brands, and what are the product and performance warranties, in writing?
  5. Who handles the DEWA, ADDC or SEWA application, and how long does approval take?
  6. What yearly output do you guarantee or estimate, in kWh?
  7. Is monitoring included, and can I see output on my phone?
  8. Are cleaning and maintenance included, and for how many years?
  9. What is the payment schedule? Avoid paying most of the price before installation.
  10. What happens if the roof needs waterproofing or repairs later?
Red flags: pressure to sign today, no written output estimate, or reluctance to share DEWA enrollment details.
